“I was introduced to RFOV during a 2006 National Trails Day project at the Scout Trail in Glenwood Springs, less than a month after I moved to the valley. I thought volunteer trail work would be a good way to meet people and get to know the area, so I Googled “volunteer trail maintenance Glenwood Springs” and found RFOV. My crew leader was Paul Boyer, and the project ambassador was Brian Magee. The trailwork was so much fun that, that very same night, I signed up for all the other projects that season! The following year I trained as a crew leader, and then, later on, became a trainer myself.
RFOV serves a very important, yet unheralded, role in our community. Despite their limitless potential, the outdoors are easily taken for granted. When I donate to RFOV, I know that our community will be doubly rewarded: trails will get the maintenance they deserve and we will grow together as we build, maintain, and restore our valley.
As I hike and backpack across the region, I’m grateful that my RFOV membership supports what is important to me while also supporting my community.”
