Calling all Young Explorers!

BRING YOUR KIDS TO AN UNFORGETTABLE NATURE ADVENTURE!

Children aged 11 and younger are invited to learn about ecosystems, wildlife habitats, and other relevant topics in a free, hands-on, and engaging manner, next Saturday, August 26 from 9 am – 12:30 at Coffman Ranch in Carbondale.

RFOV Education Director, Ben Sherman, a certified Wilderness First Responder, is excited to share his passion for science and stewardship with your children. “Little Explorers” includes a scavenger hunt, art with natural materials, wildlife spotting, plant identification, and structured nature play for your kids while you volunteer at the RFOV Community Project.

Coffman Ranch features 141 acres of productive ranch land, native wildlife habitat, and more than a century of deep agricultural roots.  For 65 years, Rex and JoAnn Coffman cared for this land and watched wildlife come and go every season. As they step back from ranching, Rex and Jo agreed to sell this special place to Aspen Valley Land Trust (AVLT). With its rustic barns, brilliant green fields, and abundant wetlands, water, and wildlife, Coffman Ranch is a throwback to a simpler, quieter time.

Join us to help create a welcoming place for our community and build deep connections with land, wildlife, and water. Volunteers will focus on creating a sustainable trail for visitors, hardening the trail around a sensitive riparian area with rocks/steps, and invasive species mitigation.
