A Culture of Stewardship
ONE LIFETIME AT ONE LATITUDE – Betty Delaney knows her roots and where she wants to be. Childhood summers spent camping introduced Betty to the joys of boating, fishing, and hiking. Most important, she learned the excitement of sharing those experiences with family and friends.

The cross-country road-trip that inspired Betty to attend college in Denver left her curious about points even further west. To Oregon, to California, and finally to Glenwood Springs she went. And it's here in the Roaring Fork Valley that she's stayed. Why? It's not just our region's diversity of outdoor opportunities, it's the extraordinary beauty that compels us to return to the places we love every season or every month – or if you share Betty's love for Mitchell Creek – to return almost every day!
Several years ago, when the Mitchell Creek Trail was overgrown and in need of help, Betty acted not as a trail-user, but as a trail-participant. She called her friends, called the ranger, and called us at RFOV! Stewardship, in Betty's words, is communication: to be open to ideas and people and the feelings that unite us with our neighbors and the natural world.

Stewardship, after all, creates community. At RFOV, we make community with our own hands. So Betty, thank you for supporting stewardship. Thank you for supporting RFOV!
