"I enjoy hiking, running and mountain biking on trails in the Roaring Fork Valley, but I understand that constructing and maintaining these trails requires a lot of people, hard work and funding. I chose to support RFOV a number of years ago because the US Forest Service needs a strong community partner to maintain and improve trails: RFOV has the necessary vision and resources to be an effective and long-term partner.
As outdoor recreation continues to evolve and trail-use changes, RFOV consistently demonstrates that it can adapt and evolve to meet those unfolding needs. For example, mountain bike trails are quite different now as compared to twenty years ago. Nevertheless, RFOV has kept current on design and upkeep. Landscape changes due to wildland fire, drought, flood, insects, or other disturbance factors also dramatically impacted trails and their use. In the face of these emergent needs, RFOV has responded well.
Perhaps one of the best things that RFOV does is that it offers community members the opportunity to engage the outdoors and make a tangible difference. Trails are an important part of our Roaring Fork identity, and I'm proud that RFOV keeps our community strong. "
