Dear Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers Family,
In the last few days I have had the opportunity to reflect on how important my family, friends, and the individuals I work with are to me. I know for myself and many of us one of the reasons we have chosen this location to live in, besides the incredibly beautiful mountains, are the close friends and family we have in our regional community. We are truly blessed living in the Roaring Fork Valley.
At the moment we are all going through difficult times, presented with new and unique challenges. Covid-19 is affecting us in our private and professional lives. Together as a community we must do everything to slow the spread of the virus, flatten the curve and protect the health of our community. You can access up to date information at: https://covid19.colorado.gov/.
These changes are impacting Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers ability to fulfill our mission of bringing the community together and inspiring public land stewards. As we work creatively to meet the needs of our community, we will be implementing the latest directives from health care authorities. Our goal is to protect the health of staff, volunteers and partners, as well as the welfare of the community. As many of you know, this is a dynamic situation and we will share more updates in the days and weeks to come. Here at RFOV, we are offering flexible work options for our staff and will be extending paid sick leave in the event that anyone must self-quarantine. Our 2020 Project Season begins in May and is currently expected to run as scheduled. In preparation for the Project Season, we are currently working on updating our risk management protocols for our staff and volunteers which include smaller group sizes, appropriate social distancing, and multiple hand washing stations.
As a community based on solidarity, we will continue promoting connection, service, and the healing power of the outdoors in our lives. We want to thank the community for helping Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers and for everyone in doing their part to help to keep our community healthy.
Sincerely,
Ron Rash, Executive Director and the Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers Team
