Summer is for Trail(crews)!

RFOV's new field crew won't only be in the backcountry – they'll need a bed for their days off. Do you have space to rent? Please let Melissa know!

IT'S NOT ONLY SPREADSHEETS AND EMAIL!

How is RFOV staff preparing for the upcoming season? We spend long hours at the computer, but there's a lot more than that:

Melissa, Program Director

From working with land managers to choose project sites for group and youth projects to planning a dozen trainings for staff, volunteers, and partners, I've got my hands full developing a season of stewardship, community building, and lots of fun. RFOV will be going from having 2 seasonal staff in 2021 to having 6 seasonal staff in 2022, and the wonderful pool of applicants we've gotten for those positions has me feeling even more excited for the coming year. I'm enjoying using my background in GIS to work on a few mapping projects - some of which will be coming to our website soon!

With snow on the ground, RFOV trades in tools for snowshoes to introduce student groups to local trails & public lands. Through the lens of stewardship, land management, responsible recreation (and more!), I'm out guiding students in winter, and will then return to those trails with them in warmer months for hands-on stewardship. February is also an important month for planning our upcoming field season! From family-friendly community projects and childcare options to scheduling school groups for spring service projects, winter is the springboard into our next season of education & stewardship.

Ben, Education Director

Jack, Program Coordinator

Stepping into my new role as Program Coordinator for the 2022 season, I'll be managing the logisitics and scheduling of our Group Projects and Adopt-A-Trail Programs. This month, I'll be reaching out to old and new RFOV group project partners to build upon and establish new relationships with stewardship focused companies and organizations throughout the Roaring Fork, Middle Colorado and Crystal watersheds. I also am working with Ben, helping run the day-to-day opperations of our Young Stewards Program.
