Access AfterSchool Is Looking For Paid Volunteer Teachers!

Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers is reaching out with an opportunity to teach a fun and exciting outdoor class in partnership with Access AfterSchool.

If you are interested in instructing a class (or two!) this spring, please contact Ben Sherman @ bsherman@rfov.org and complete this online Interest Form at your earliest convenience. It’s quick and easy and will be available until January 30.

Your time teaching students at any of the schools listed below would be compensated at $28/hr and would ensure students throughout the valley have an opportunity to learn and play outdoors.

We will be offering courses from February 3 – April 24 at the following schools:
– Basalt Middle School (3:30-5:00 M/T/TH) – Basalt, CO
– Glenwood Springs Middle School (3:30-5:00 M/T/TH) – Glenwood Springs, CO
– Ross Montessori School (3:30-5:00 M/T/TH) – Carbondale, CO
– Riverview School (3:45-5:15, M/T/TH) – Glenwood Springs, CO
– Riverside Middle School (4:15-5:45, M/T/W) – New Castle, CO
– Rifle Middle School (4:15-5:45 M/T/W) – Rifle, CO

Please follow this link to download a letter that provides a bit more detail about RFOV’s class as well as Access AfterSchool.

Please feel free to pass this information on to anyone who might be interested and is qualified to work with youth in an after school program!

There will be an orientation meeting with RFOV and initial training through Access AfterSchool, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, learn the curriculum and have all the tools you need to teach this exciting course.

If you have any questions or want to learn more, please contact Ben Sherman, Education Director at RFOV

Basalt Gives.

Donate to the nonprofits that support the Basalt area’s health, education, environment, and cultural systems.

Property owners, businesses, governments, and individuals are planning to act together by giving to the nonprofits that support the Basalt area community. Some have pledged to donate their entire tax refund amount (or more), while others (e.g., not in the town limits, renters, etc.) are planning to participate as well. If you are a Basalt property owner, you will receive your tax refund in late October, according to the Town of Basalt. With substantial participation, this coordinated giving campaign could create a sustainable funding stream that would be a lasting legacy for our community.
