July 2021

OUR NETWORK OF MEMBERS, volunteers, and partners enables Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers to achieve our mission of public lands stewardship – we couldn't do the work without your help! Although we're not even halfway through 1 summer season, we've already recorded 2,000 volunteer hours! And coming this month are three fantastic events so you can get outdoors with a purpose this July.

Keep reading to learn how RFOV is working to include all ages, abilities, and backgrounds in our stewardship work.

ADVENTURE STEWARDS

On June 25th, an enthusiastic and engaged group of 7th-graders became our newest Adventure Stewards! After two weeks of outdoor education, land stewardship, and guided adventure sports, our students trimmed thousands of feet of trail vegetation, stained fences and installed steps. Learning about local ecosystems makes new stewards of our public lands!

TED BEHAR

New to RFOV and the Valley, Ted came to his first project with tools in-hand – ready to give back to his new community! Ted's enthusiastically volunteered at Sutey Ranch (multiple times!) and Grizzly Creek!

Who will be our July Volunteer of the Month? It could be you!

A MONTH IN A MOMENT

Staff felt a bit stressed in the week leading up to our June 26th project at Lazy Glen Open Space: Would one day be enough to plant 500 trees in rocky soil? Project day arrived and forecast storms just elevated our worries...Then thirty dedicated volunteers drove in, put on gloves, worked through the drizzle and planted all the willows and cottonwoods in half the time we expected! We're grateful we could spend a Saturday with such inspiring community members – Thank you!
