The Young Stewards Program strives for equity in access to our unique brand of hands-on, place based learning.

Cost

  • While donations are encouraged, the YSP offers programming at no cost to students or partners 

  • Financial assistance is available for any tuition-based program 

Flexibility

  • A high degree of flexibility in program scheduling, location and academic focus

Gear 

  • In addition to providing the gloves and tools necessary for a day of stewardship, RFOV maintains a small gear library to provide students with appropriate footwear boots, water bottles and more. We can also supply healthy snacks for a project day upon request. 

Collaboration

  • Working closely with local land managers, RFOV matches each group with age-appropriate projects in their community 

  • Students are given an opportunity to discover and give back to outdoor spaces in their own “backyard” 

Transportation

  • Transportation is provided whenever possible, allowing students to access and discover public land that may be otherwise out of reach. 

  • RFOV may be able to assist to offset the cost of bussing/transportation
