Beavers are important engineers of watershed health in Colorado. Once decimated, their population is now rebounding and they need your help! Through our Butler Creek BDA project, we will improve the vitality of the riparian area and increase the habitat potential for beavers and important wetland species.

Before it was a paradise for trail users, and before it was a shopping district, Wulfsohn Mountain Park was threatened by 2002's Coal Seam Fire. To help reduce the risk of another large wildfire in Glenwood Springs, join with fire experts to learn about wildfire behavior and ecology while continuing the years-long effort to mitigate wildfire risk.
After three years of continuous restoration efforts, we're going back to Coal Basin Ranch to restore more natural areas at the site that was once the base for a large-scale coal mining operation. Come learn about this beautiful area while healing degraded soils and plant communities.
Coffman Ranch features 141 acres of productive ranch land, native wildlife habitat, and more than a century of deep agricultural roots. Join us to help create a welcoming place for our community and build deep connections with land, wildlife, and water.

Come and enjoy the outdoors while helping the City of Glenwood Springs with a riverside restoration access project on the banks of the Colorado River. In continuation of the hard work on this trail by RFOV volunteers and Pitkin County Open Space and Trails staff throughout the season, we will be providing finishing work and maintenance for sustainability on this beloved horse and hiking trail.
Situated at 11,100 feet, Betty Bear Hut is one of the Jewels of the 10th Mountain Division Huts. In 2021, a major wind event caused significant tree windthrow in the vicinity of the hut and severely increased the wildfire risk to the structure and surrounding forest. Come spend a summer weekend at the Betty Bear Hut and work to mitigate this increased threat. Space is limited.
Come help the Town of Carbondale and RFOV staff remove a large amount of invasive species on the Red Hill Trails Network!
RFOV is offering a basic First Aid & CPR course to the public! Michael Hutton, one of RFOV’s original founders, will be teaching this course at the Third Street Center in Carbondale.
Recently acquired by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails, Snowmass Falls Ranch is a 650-acre parcel that serves as a gateway to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness. The area has over a century of ranching history as well as valuable wildlife habitat and stunning scenery. In its transition to public land, a key objective is the removal of unnecessary barbed wire within the property. Come help us restore this beautiful, wilderness-adjacent property to benefit wildlife movement.

In 2023, a small sinkhole progressed into a large landslide and cut a swath across the popular Nature Trail in Snowmass Village. The town has since built a bridge to span the damaged area of the trail but needs your help to promote the revegetation of the area in and around the bridge and improve the sustainability of this trail along its length. Come join us for one or both evenings.
Pitkin County Open Space and Trails recently adopted a management plan to guide the future of the Coke Ovens Open Space. While some of this property continues to support horses and Western heritage activities, many areas contain old and unnecessary fencing. Join us near the small town of Redstone to help improve wildlife mobility and access to Coal Creek by removing barbed wire from this beautiful property.

RFOV will access the backside of the Four Pass Loop through the Lead King Basin and spend four days caring for a segment of this well-loved trail system along with our professional trail crew. RFOV will provide breakfasts and dinners, and if there are any personal backpacking gear items you don't have, we can work with you to find the gear needed. Space is limited.

Did you know that over 100,000 people visit the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness every year? You can help care for a well-loved slice of this Wilderness Area on our overnight backpacking project on the Cathedral Lake and Electric Pass Trails. RFOV will provide breakfasts and dinners and can work with you to find needed gear. Space is limited.
RFOV's community projects depend on Project Ambassadors to sign in and orient volunteers, talk to the community about the project and other RFOV work during the volunteer day, and support general project logistics. Please come learn about the Project Ambassador program and join us in this accessible, low-impact volunteer opportunity.
Join us for one or both days of a weekend campout in Marble full of stewardship projects, learning opportunities, and plenty of time to just hang out. We'll work on trail and restoration projects at the in-town Marble Mill Site, the Marble Wetlands, and a nearby US Forest Service Trail.
Special post-project and pre-dinner self-guided activities will be available. Camping in town is available on Friday and Saturday nights with pre-registration, and breakfast and dinner are included.
Come join RFOV and the Eagle River Coalition for a weekend overnight to create Zeedyk rock structures in the Bohr Flats wetland area near Bond, CO. RFOV will provide breakfasts and dinners and can work with you to find needed gear.

Originally settled and worked by the Glassier family in the early 1900s, Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) purchased Rock Bottom Ranch in 1999. RFOV will be working along a segment of their 113-acre property to improve two different public trails that connect to the Rio Grande Trail/Bike Path.

Join us Sunday, May 19th at 8:00 am for the Mt. Sopris run-off. A 10-mile and 25k both utilizing the iconic “Up & Over” single track trail in a point-to-point race taking runners from the start at Flying Dog Ranch on Prince Creek Road up and over and ending at Rock Bottom Ranch in Basalt, CO.
Dedicated in honor of Nancy Parker West, Nancy's Path is a public trail open to horses and hikers that is managed by Pitkin County Open Space and Trails and the Bureau of Land Management. Join us for an evening of volunteering to begin a season-long effort to repair and improve the sustainability of this historic trail.
