To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act in July, 2020, RFOV introduced our newest regional initiative, entitled Trails & Ways, because we believe that
“There is a way for anyone to access the outdoors”.
The purpose of the Trails & Ways initiative is to design trails (existing or new) that complement various motor, sensory, physical, or cognitive abilities. We envision a network of trails stretching across the Roaring Fork Valley that can offer different outdoor opportunities for our entire disabled community.

Ponderosa Trail (downtown Basalt)
The Ponderosa Trail extends from the Musical/Seed Garden (at left), along the west side of the Roaring Fork River, and finishes just below the Whitewater Park. Watercolor by Suzanne Jackson, 40BWorks.
As of Autumn, 2021 the first stage of this project is complete. Additional work will continue in Summer, 2022.
