Get Involved
We offer Community Projects from April through October. Come meet new friends while making a tangible impact on the ground. Open to everyone, RFOV community projects range from physically easy to strenuous, and most are accessible by public transit. No experience is needed and advance registration is required.
Opportunities for organizations of any type - businesses, families, civic, youth, faith groups, schools, nonprofits - to participate with their team in a stewardship project designed to fit the group’s needs. We provide everything you need for the project: leadership, tools, training and logistical support. You supply the volunteers!
Trail-building, trail-maintenance, outdoor and leadership skills – our two day Crew Leader Training prepares you to help educate new volunteers and contribute to a fun, safe, and rewarding experience for all. You don’t need to be an expert to become a Crew Leader – RFOV provides all the support and training you’ll need!
⤲ Adopt-A-Trail
Have a favorite trail? Want to make sure it’s taken care of? Adopt it! To participate, we ask that your group commits a set amount of volunteer hours or makes a financial contribution.
An “Adopt-A-Trail” sign at the trailhead will recognize your group’s service to the community.
⤲ Project Ambassadors
Take charge of an RFOV project! As a project day ambassador, you'll be:
Helping with volunteer registration
Distributing drinks and snacks during the project
Taking photos if you're feeling artistically inclined
Distributing and collecting feedback surveys
Spreading the word about RFOV
⤲ Become a Project Technical Advisor
RFOV uses the skills of landscape architects, carpenters, engineers, horticulturists, and other outdoor enthusiasts for technical guidance on our projects. Help design boardwalks, trails, habitat restoration, etc. by contributing in your area of expertise.
⤲ Become a Contributing Photographer
Photos are an essential tool for showing volunteers, land managers, and donors what we do and where we do it. Project and event photos are always needed and welcome for use in newsletters, educational programs, on Instagram and this website.
⤲ Volunteer for our young Stewards Program
Throughout the year, our educators are in the classroom, libraries, and taking students outside to teach about stewardship and outdoor skills. Often we are looking for Young Stewards Program volunteers to help with this programming.
