Service Learning Days with RFOV

 

Designed for any age group, these hands-on projects give students a chance to create a lasting, positive impact on local public lands. These customizable days can connect to what your group is learning about, bringing the classroom outside and addressing your specific goals. 

*We request a minimum time commitment of three hours and minimum group size of six students (and at least one adult leader from your group / school).


Step 1: Submit a Request Form

Step 2: Plan your project

  • Select date and time frame 

  • Provide information about transportation and location preferences 

*Our spring season fills up months in advance. Interested groups are encouraged to reach out early to secure their program date.

Step 3: Complete registration and waiver form

A simple digital form, available in both English and Spanish. Each participant (adults included) must register and complete a waiver. A completed RFOV waiver is good for one calendar year.

Step 4: Sample day-of schedule

  • 9:00 AM arrive to our project site, introductions  

  • 9:30 AM hike to our work location

  • 10:00-12 AM work on our project - trim, dig, build, and get dirty! 

  • 12:00 -1 PM lunch & lesson time 

  • 1:00 -2 PM finish up our project work

  • 2:00 PM wrap-up and debrief 

  • 2:30 PM drive back to school

Step 5: Post project information

You will receive an email with a brief post-project survey. Complete this google form to help us improve our program and learn from your experience with RFOV.
