Student Essay Contest

The theme of year’s Roaring Fork Outdoor Volunteers Earth Day Essay Contest is:

MAKING OUR SHARED OUTDOORS INTO COMMON GROUND

The contest is open to all students in 6th - 8th grades living in the Roaring Fork, Crystal, and Middle Colorado river valleys.

Think about a time when you felt welcomed or at home while you were outdoors. This year’s theme is all about how each of us can make the outdoors a place for everyone - while respecting plants, animals and the environment!

POSSIBLE TOPICS An introduction to a new outdoor experience, sharing an outdoor space with someone, making the outdoors accessible, restoring or conserving a shared outdoor space, creating new habitat and many more! Be creative - what does “Making our Shared Outdoors into Common Ground” mean to you?
