Our Mission

RFOV promotes stewardship of our public lands by engaging the community in volunteer trail and restoration projects.

The preservation and enhancement of our natural surroundings is the responsibility of every member of our regional community.

RFOV empowers our community to create a lasting legacy for future generations.

What did we do in 2018?

In 2018, we completed 10 public projects including Hanging Lake and a new trail on Red Hill. Take a look at all the trails and wetlands we worked on this year! Our 2019 project schedule will be published and shared in March, so stay tuned and pick your favorite projects that you want to attend!

Volunteer Awards 2018

What are these awards and who got ’em? Every year, RFOV staff and our Volunteer Development Committee likes to recognize stand-outs from the public project season. These volunteers were notable throughout 2018, and they are a huge factor behind the success of our 23rd year as an organization. At our End of Season party, 75 people helped us celebrate their accomplishments! We wanted to share a bit more about each volunteer who made an impression.

Volunteer & Camp at our Family-Friendly Project this Weekend, Sept 7-9!

You and the whole family are invited to camp out with us near the beautiful Fryingpan Valley on the weekend of September 7-9 for this family-friendly volunteer project. For the past few years, the Crooked Creek Wetlands restoration project has been a popular and fun project up the Frying Pan Rd. Become an Intern with RFOV!

Become an Intern and get Paid to Hike! We are excited to offer this internship with the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies and Fat City Farmers to students at Coal Ridge High School and Rifle High School this fall! Through the Inspired Stewards internship program, students will develop skills in trail-building, wildlife biology, & farming, while gaining an awareness of pathways to environmental & outdoor-based careers.
