Other Ways To Help

YOU DON'T HAVE TO SWING
A PULASKI TO VOLUNTEER

Join a Committee

RFOV has a number of additional behind-the-scenes teams that help make our organization tick. You can lend your special skills or pick up some new ones. And joining an RFOV committee is a great way to meet new friends from all over the valley.

Help recruit and promote volunteerism within RFOV and our various programs. This committee organizes volunteer recognition activities, reaches out to businesses and organizations, manages the Ambassador Program, and provides volunteer support on RFOV projects.

A volunteer crew is only as effective as the tools they’re using. Twice a year, or as needed, the Tool Committee sharpens picks and pruners and makes sure that shovels won’t fly off the handle.

Enjoy creative writing or public speaking? This committee develops marketing pieces—written, oral and visual—for the organization. The group coordinates the newsletter and sets up promotional talks with local organizations.

This new committee is developing a signature fundraising event that aligns with our mission. If you have ideas and/or experience with event management, we’d love to hear from you.

Help solicit and select prospective projects in the Valley! Project team researches potential projects, evaluates their merit, and discusses their benefits to our mission and our community.

Ambassador Program

Ambassadors are easily the most loved volunteer at our projects! You can be a project-day ambassador or a trailhead table. For a trailhead table, we work on your schedule...just pick a time that works best for you!

PROJECT DAY
AMBASSADOR

Take charge of an RFOV project! As a project day ambassador, you'll be:

Helping with volunteer registration
Distributing drinks and snacks during the project
Taking photos if you're feeling artistically inclined
Distributing and collecting feedback surveys
Spreading the word about RFOV

TRAILHEAD
TABLES

What's the best way to recruit new volunteers who are active trail users? By meeting them at trailheads! At a trailhead table, you'll:

 Greet trail users
Hand out snacks and water
Hand out RFOV information
Answer questions about the trail, RFOV projects and opportunities
Recruit new volunteers!

Other ways to get involved

Project Technical Advisor

RFOV uses the skills of landscape architects, carpenters, engineers, horticulturists, and other outdoor enthusiasts for technical guidance on our projects. Help design boardwalks, trails, habitat restoration, etc.

Adopt-A-Trail/Group Work Days

Keep our trails and open spaces beautiful! As budgets tighten, it is more and more important that we maintain our own trails and keep our parks in good working order. Our public land is our backyard. Help organize your business, club, or group and get involved in this commitment to stewardship of our public lands.

Become a contributing photographer

Photos are an essential tool for showing volunteers and donors what we do and where we do it. Project and event photos are always needed and welcome for use in newsletters, advertising, educational programs, and this website. Submit photos any time to rfov@sopris.net!
