South Graham Mesa Trail Project Fact Sheet

Time:  Saturday – 8:30 am to 4:00 pm (dinner to follow)

Location:  South Graham Mesa Trail (near Davidson Park in Rifle, CO)

What to expect

We will be building a new, multi-use trail near downtown Rifle. Volunteer work will consist of building new trail, light tread work, and installing drainage structures.

Registration

The RFOV registration table will be set up at Davidson Park in Rifle. Please check in upon arrival. We will then split into crews and head to the work site.

Meals

Please bring a sack lunch, snacks, and plenty of water. RFOV will be providing light breakfast offerings, dinner, and drinks post project.

Project schedule

8:30 am     Registration

Noon          Lunch (sack lunch on the trail)

4:00 pm     End Work

4:05 pm     Dinner (provided)

What to wear

Long pants are recommended and sturdy, closed toe shoes are required. The best advice is to layer your clothing to be ready for cool mornings and evenings, and probable hot weather during the day. Be prepared with a hat, sunscreen, and rain gear.

 What to bring

  • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
  • Rain gear
  • Insect repellent
  • Water (at least 1/2 gallon)
  • Personal snacks
  • Lunch

Directions 

From Glenwood Springs (or up-valley)

Follow I-70 west, heading towards Grand Junction. Continue on I-70 for 25 miles. Take Exit 90 and turn right onto CO-13 N towards downtown Rifle. Continue over the bridge and onto Railroad Ave. Turn right to East 5th St. In two blocks, turn left onto Whiteriver Ave. In two blocks, turn right onto East 7th St. Travel 1.8 miles and turn left onto Fir Ave. Please park in the Highland Elementary School parking lot on the right. Registration will take place across the street at Davidson Park.

 From Parachute (or down-valley)

Follow I-70 east towards Rifle and take Exit 90. Proceed ¾ of the way around the round-a bout and onto CO-13 north towards downtown Rifle. Continue over the bridge and onto Railroad Ave. Turn right to East 5th St. In two blocks, turn left onto Whiteriver Ave. In two blocks, turn right onto East 7th St. Travel 1.8 miles and turn left onto Fir Ave. Please park in the Highland Elementary School parking lot on the right. Registration will take place across the street at Davidson Park.

 Special notes

  • As much as we love pets, they typically make unsafe project participants. To ensure the safety of all pets and volunteers, pets are not permitted on RFOV projects.
  • The nature of work is suitable for volunteers 12 years old or older. We request one-on-one adult supervision of any minors attending this project.
