What to Expect

RFOV volunteers will maintain trails in the beautiful Hunter Creek Valley to improve wet and muddy trail conditions.

 

Registration

Please drive Red Mountain Rd to Upper Hunter Creek Trailhead then go through the open gate and park next to the RFOV van. Please check-in at the RFOV tent. From there, volunteers will head up the trail to where work will begin.

 

Project Schedule

4:00 pm (or whenever you arrive) Begin work

8:00 pm Dinner at the end of the project

 

Meals

RFOV will provide dinner and drinks post project. Please bring your own water and snacks.

 

What to Wear

Please layer your clothing to be ready for a warm evening with cooler weather as the sun sets. Be prepared with a hat, sunscreen, and rain gear. Long pants are recommended and sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required.

 

What to Bring

    • Work/trail shoes
    • Work gloves
    • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
    • Rain gear (jacket, pants)
    • Insect repellent
    • Water (at least 1/2 gallon)
  • Personal snacks

On Google Maps – search “Upper Hunter Creek Trailhead” located on Red Mountain Road

From Down-valley

Follow Colorado HWY 82 into Aspen. Stay on Main Street. Turn left onto N Mill Street. Continue onto Red Mountain Rd and follow to Upper Hunter Creek Trailhead. There is a senior and disabilities parking lot, enter through the open gate and park next to the RFOV van.
Please check in at the RFOV tent when you arrive.

From Aspen Up-valley

Turn onto N Mill Street. Continue onto Red Mountain Rd and follow to Upper Hunter Creek Trailhead. There is a senior and disabilities parking lot, enter through the open gate and park next to the RFOV van.
Please check in at the RFOV tent when you arrive.

 

Important notes

  • To ensure the safety of your furry friends and all volunteers, pets are not permitted on RFOV projects.
  • This project is appropriate for volunteers 12 years old and older. We request direct guardian supervision of any minors attending this project.
