Date:  Saturday, June 1, 2019 – National Trails Day

Time:  8:30 am to 4:00 pm (dinner and drinks to follow)

Location:  Snowmass Village, Colorado

 

What to Expect

RFOV is excited to partner with Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association and the Town of Snowmass Village to celebrate National Trails Day by breaking ground on a brand new trail. This new trail will connect  the popular South Rim and Mountain View multi-use trails. Trail work will include trimming branches, removing brush and new trail build.

 

Registration

Please park at the Snowmass Village Recreation Center and check in at the RFOV tent From there, volunteers will be shuttled to the trailhead and  split into their crews.

 

Project Schedule

8:30 am Registration

9:00 am Start Work

Noon Lunch

4:00 pm End of Work & Celebration!

 

Meals

RFOV will provide light breakfast snacks in the morning. Please bring your own lunch and two full water bottles At the end of the day, we will celebrate with drinks and dinner from Mi Chola.

 

What to Wear

Please layer your clothing to be ready for a cool morning and warmer weather later in the day. Be prepared with a hat, sunscreen, and rain gear. Long pants are recommended and sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required.

 

What to Bring

    • Work/trail shoes
    • Work gloves
    • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
    • Rain gear (jacket, pants)
    • Insect repellent
  • Water (at least 1/2 gallon)
    • Personal snacks
  • Lunch

 

Directions

On Google Maps – search “Snowmass Village Recreation Center” located on Brush Creek Rd

From Basalt (Down-valley)

Follow Colorado HWY 82 East towards Aspen. Turn right onto Brush Creek Rd. At the roundabout, take the second exit to continue straight onto Brush Creek Rd. In 0.1 miles, turn right into the Recreation Center/Town Park parking lot. Please check in at the RFOV tent when you arrive.

 

From Aspen (Up-valley)

Follow Colorado HWY 82 West. Turn left onto Owl Creek Rd. In 4.4 miles continue straight onto Highline Rd. At the roundabout, take the last exit onto Brush Creek Rd towards Snowmass Village. In 0.1 miles, turn right into the Recreation Center/Town Park parking lot. Please check in at the RFOV tent when you arrive.

 

Important Notes

  • To ensure the safety of your furry friends  and all volunteers, pets are not permitted on RFOV projects.
  • This project is appropriate for volunteers 13 years old and older. We request direct guardian supervision of any minors attending this project.
