What to Expect

RFOV and our partners are excited to invite volunteers to join in the maintenance and restoration of the Cathedral Lake Trail. Volunteers will be working within 1 mile of the trailhead to reduce muddy trail sections and improve the hiking experience. A variety or work will be available for all skill levels. We will be celebrating with dinner and drinks to end the day.

  • To ensure the safety of your furry friends  and all volunteers, pets are not permitted on RFOV projects. 
  • This project is appropriate for volunteers 13 years old and older. We request direct guardian supervision of any minors attending this project.

Registration

Please park at the Cathedral Lake Trailhead off of Castle Creek Rd. and sign-in at the RFOV tent.

Meals 

RFOV will provide light breakfast snacks in the morning. Please bring your own lunch and two full water bottles. At the end of the day, we will celebrate with dinner and drinks.

What to Wear & Bring:

Please layer your clothing to be ready for a cool morning and warmer weather later in the day. Be prepared with a hat, sunscreen, and rain gear. Long pants are recommended and sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required.

    • Work/trail shoes
    • Work gloves
    • Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc.
    • Rain gear (jacket, pants)
    • Insect repellent 
    • Water (at least 1/2 gallon)
    • Personal snacks
    • Lunch

Directions 

On Google Maps – search “Cathedral Lake Trailhead” located off of Castle Creek Rd.

From Colorado HWY 82 (East or West) take the Castle Creek Rd exit at the roundabout near Aspen. Continue straight for 12 miles and turn right onto Cathedral Lake Rd. Continue 0.3 miles to the trailhead parking area. Cathedral Lake Rd can be challenging for 2-wheel drive vehicles. We always recommend carpooling when possible. Please check in at the RFOV tent when you arrive.
